Ora-Ora Live — Episode 26 - Interview with Lynn Fung from Liang Yi Museum

Mars 12, 2021

This week we speak to Lynn Fung about her vision for Liang Yi Museum - a private museum of design, craftsmanship, and heritage that houses the world's largest and best curated Chinese antiques. She discusses her experience as a second-generation steward, sharing the behind the scenes process and inspirations of some of their exhibitions and collections.

Lynn Fung is director of Liang Yi Museum and one half its namesake. The museum is named by founder Peter Fung after his two children. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in literature in Chicago and London, before returning to Hong Kong, holding a position as online editor of Hong Kong Tatler before assuming directorship of the Museum and overseeing its launch.

In her role at the Museum, Lynn is responsible for creating an exhibition programme that showcases both the museum’s own permanent collections, as well as organising loans from international institutions, galleries and private collectors. Within this realm, Lynn has organised Masterpieces of British Silver: Highlights from the Victoria and Albert Museum featuring many pieces that have never before been seen in Asia. Another popular exhibition she spearheaded was The Blue Road: Mastercrafts from Persia in 2018. The Blue Road was the first and largest exhibition of Persian decorative art held in Asia, and included loans from a dozen international institutions such as the Ashmolean; the V&A; The David Collection; The Doris Duke Foundation; and The Wellcome Collection.
