Peng Jian's artworks unveil a graceful state of the objective reality by concealing certain aspects of objective reality in the sensory form of the artist's main intention, and inject new spiritual meaning into the new objective reality. The artist’s metaphorical approach projects his own subjective will into the objective reality, which becomes a new time and space constructed by the artist. Cubes, blocks, and spheres of different colours as we commonly see in the real world are all placed carefully together here, transcending their original physicality and symbolizing the meaning of humanity.

Peng’s new works are about relationship of dimensions and surfaces, relationship of visual art, balance of human relations, and balance in life. The pursuit of equilibrium needs proportions and symmetry. Plane, shape, colour and weight are equally important. As Peng Jian once said: "I define different objects within a limited space. I am not only trying to portray a specific image, but I want to express the deep hidden meaning in a symbolic manner. The colours here look real and pure, but not in the object. They seem to float above the object, like an amorphous subjective gesture."
Born in 1982 in Yueyang, Hunan, China, Peng Jian graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the China Academy of Art with a master's degree in 2013 . Currently Peng works and lives in Hangzhou, China.
