Yang Xun 杨勛

Yang Xun was born in Chongqing in 1981. He graduated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 2005. He lives and works in Beijing.

His oil on canvas works summon the aesthetics of daguerreotypes to imbue ancient sites, natural phenomena, and human journeys with an aura of nostalgia and fragility. He presents flowers, rocks, and buildings in an atmosphere of transience, removing colour and detail in favour of tenderness and mystery.

His work is held in the collections of Shenzhen Art Museum, the He Xiangning Art Museum and the Chengdu Modern Art Center among others. Group exhibitions include 16.52 Sqm Open Sea at Galerie Ora-Ora in 2018.
