Pan Wenxun 潘汶汛

Biography

Pan Wenxun was born in Hangzhou in 1976. She graduated from the China Academy of Art and received a PhD in 2010. She continues to live and work in Hangzhou, currently working at the China Academy of Art as an associate professor.

Her ink and wash paintings render ethereal, other-worldly portraits of young children, animals, and flora, merging playful sentimentality with yearning, romance, wistfulness, and a sense of transience and impermanence. She employs soft hues and gentle imprecisions to anchor flashes of wit and longing, and feelings of familial enchantment.

Pan Wenxun’s 2020 painting Mom, You are the Most Beautiful, was selected to form part of an online exhibition commemorating the fight against Covid-19. Her most recent exhibition at Ora-Ora was a double exhibition with Liu Qi, entitled Winter Romance (2021). Other shows include Deeply Immersed in Art at the Sanqing Shang Art Institute, Hangzhou (2020), Veiled Heroism at the Guanshan Yue Art Museum, Guangdong Province (2017), and Wunxi Sha at the Shanghai Art Museum (2012). Her works have been collected by Guan Shanyue Art Museum, Hubei, Wuhan Fine Arts and Literature Art Center, Chengdu Contemporary Art Gallery, Zhejiang Painting Academy and Shenzhen Fine Art Institute among others.
