Models, toys, and mechanical parts are the constant themes in Lin Qing's creation. He uses a gentle and delicate brushwork with bright tones to depict the still lifes of the present era. Different from previous works, in "T-01", Lin Qing first painted a sea in agility, with a speedboat breaking tides; but then he added frames to add boundaries to this piece of open sea. The seemingly uncontainable nature is now cut, framed and transformed into a model on the table. The singular connection between the two causes the viewer to question the perspective of his/her own. Are we simply observing a piece of an arbitrarily cut sea in a bird’s eye view, or are we also a nature’s ornament ourselves?
