Having grown up in Gothenburg in Sweden and graduated with an MFA from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Patrick Nilsson has exhibited across Sweden, and in Frankfurt, Norway, the USA, Australia and the UK. His works portray a sense of wonder at the eerie unreality of the world around us. He is a master of the paradox and the surprise, of playful gravitas, searing his works with a kind of passionate serenity. Patrick often unleashes scenes of riotous disharmony which probe man’s most brutal instincts with an eye for humour. As he remarks: “I look for contradictions. I look for humour, black and dark.” An artist of painting, drawing and sculpture, Patrick Nilsson’s work is in the collection of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Västerås Konstmuseum, Uppsala Konstmuseum, and Göteborgs Konstmuseum.
