Galerie Ora-Ora is proud to present Nina Pryde’s solo exhibition Infinity with the opening reception to be held from 6 to 8 pm on July 16 (Tuesday). Infinity pays homage to an iconic line featured in Avatamsaka Sutra, a scripture of East Asian Buddhism. In essence, the artist wishes to communicate her central belief that “The human heart is like a painter who has the ability to paint anything in the world, there is nothing one cannot do when his appearance, feelings, thoughts, behaviour and ideology are in harmony with each other."
Pryde has experienced war and turmoil during her lifetime, and for this exhibition, she combines ink painting with collage to portray an almost dream-like, boundless landscape in an attempt to escape from the harsh reality and to create an ideal world for herself and her viewers. Pryde thrives in producing innovative works and is eager to embrace any artistic challenges that are presented to her. The framework of conduct in Chinese philosophy is reformist, idealist and spiritual. The artist conveys these ideas in her work, but in a more dramatic aesthetic discourse similar to Western painterly styles.
The artist will be present during the opening reception. The exhibition will be on view until August 17.
