Jun June Mo

Korean artist Jun June Mo utilizes the various types and varying degrees of ‘violence’ he experiences in his personal life as the inspiration for his art. His work raises awareness to violence that exists in our relationship to each other and to the world, and moves us to reflect on its source and consequences.

In the exhibition “Chicken”, Jun June Mo takes chicken as the main motif in his work. It is a symbol, a starting for contemplation. He said, ‘My art reflects on the being of chickens as an example of the violence human beings inflict on other creatures. Our society sees people and things in a fixed way—where the worth of people and things depends on their relevance to people’s desires and needs. The violence created is not necessarily recognized, and it’s not only directed to animals. It’s also present in the possessive nature of human beings.’
