“Revising Shan Shui”—New Ink Exhibition Part I
Exhibition Period: 5 – 20 Nov, 2010
Related Artists: Li Pang, Huang Haifei, Kuchida Maki
The latest New Ink Exhibition consists of two parts. New Ink Exhibition Part I: Revising Shan Shui starts on November 5. It features graduates from Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing: Li Pang, Huang Haifei and Kuchida Maki will portray the new definition and facet of traditional Chinese Shan Shui—literally ‘mountain sea’—which refers to landscape painting. In some ways their artworks resound with familiarity; yet in many other ways they spell an intriguing mystery. The three artists have their individual, distinctive styles. The artworks take the guise of landscape paintings, to explore profound questions about humanity. More importantly, the artists deliver thought-provoking, stimulating images that speak to the audience. Such conceptual diversity and intellectual stimulus are at the heart of this exhibition.
